Understanding your cat's behaviour

Cat intelligence study is mostly from consideration of the domesticated cat. Structurally, a cat's brain shares similarities with the human brain, containing around 250 million neurons in the cerebral cortex, which is responsible for complex processing. Some cats have been observed to purr continuously when chronically ill or in apparent pain. Their body language, including position of ears and tail, relaxation of the whole body, and kneading of the paws, are all indicators of mood. Caring for cats and kittens

These allow cats to pass their body through any space into which they can fit their heads. Unlike human arms, cat's front paws are attached to the shoulder by free-floating clavicle bones. Native species there are ecologically vulnerable and behaviorally "naive" to predation by feral cats. A notable exception is Hawaii, where feral cats have had extremely serious impacts on native birds species; "naive" fauna on islands of all sizes, in both hemispheres, are particularly vulnerable to feral cats. Because of common crossbreeding in populated areas, many cats are simply identified as belonging to the homogeneous breeds of domestic longhair and domestic shorthair, depending on their type of fur. After associating with humans for several thousand years, cats entered the historical record in ancient Egypt.
